— Disney is making a splash in the childrens clothing business with a new line of cotton-knit apparel that it says has the potential to be the “first of its kind in the industry.”
In a press release Friday, Disney said it has launched a limited edition line called “Cotton,” which features cotton-twill cotton sweaters and caps.
The collection will include the “Minnie Mouse” and “Dumbo” hoodies, as well as “Bubble” caps and sweaters.
The brand will debut in stores in the U.S. in the spring and summer, with a wide-ranging rollout to other markets in the fall.
The new line is available now at Disney.com, in select retailers, online and at Disney retail stores.
“The Cotton line will be a hit with kids who love Disney princesses and their accessories,” said Disney senior vice president of merchandising for Disney’s Children’s Entertainment division, Kevin McCollum.
“Kids love Disney’s diverse array of characters and it’s a great way to show them that Disney princess culture is alive and well.”
The “Corko Coco” and the “Ponyo” hoodie are available in men’s sizes from $35.99 and $49.99.
The “Pinky” hoody is available in sizes from under $50.
The Cotton collection is available at select Disney retail locations, including select Disney theme parks, Disney stores and Disney Cruise ships.
The line will launch in the United States and in other territories next spring.
“We’re excited to have this new line launch with Disney,” said Celine DiCicco, senior vice-president of merchanding for Disney Retail Stores.
“We believe that the Cotton line is the perfect companion to the Mouse in kids’ apparel, and it will be exciting to see how this collection will be embraced by other kids and families.”
